Culture
My definition of culture is an individual who is part of a community that has their own language, beliefs, tradition, customs, religion, values, and identity that reflects who they are in society. Based on the reading which describing and defining what culture is, Morgan, B. describes culture as a five dimensions that interrelated with each other. Morgan, B. defines culture as “the evolving way of life of a group of persons, consisting of a shared set of practices associated with a shared set of products, based upon a shared set of perspectives on the world, and set within specific social contexts” (p. 24).
Morgan, B. emphasizes that culture is defined and consists with
products, practices, perspectives, communities, and persons. I also agree with
the author and the explanation made about what is defined as culture. It is
very true that culture can be defined in many ways, but I do agree that there
are many things involve in a person, who makes a community, and how other
perceive that person with their own identity, beliefs and values.
The iceberg of culture is a great example of how culture defines who we are. A person performs practices, such as their actions and interaction as individuals in a social group. Products, such as language, buildings, clothes, and so on, defined the community that we live in. Additionally, all this characteristics added together with our own perspectives to the world, such as our own beliefs, values, and attitudes that guide each of us individually in a society or community and make who we are; our own culture. Overall, culture is an individual’s identity with their own traditions, language, values, and religion
